Xerjoff XJ 1861 Naxos – a citrus gourmand tribute to Sicilian heritage
Xerjoff XJ 1861 Naxos is a unisex fragrance with a citrus gourmand character, launched in 2015. The composition opens with refreshing notes of lavender, bergamot, and lemon, creating a bright and vibrant introduction. The heart unfolds with warm and sweet nuances of honey, cinnamon, cashmeran, and jasmine sambac, adding depth, elegance, and a subtle oriental touch. Base notes of tobacco leaf, vanilla, and tonka bean complete the fragrance with a sensual, warm, and addictive trail.
At the Esxence 2015 perfume exhibition in Milan, Xerjoff introduced the XJ 1861 collection, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy. The collection celebrates the country’s wealth, beauty, and cultural heritage and includes three fragrances: Renaissance, Zefiro, and Naxos. Each scent represents a different facet of Italy—Renaissance honors the Renaissance era, Zefiro celebrates eternal Rome, and Naxos pays tribute to Sicily.
Naxos celebrates Sicily and its Mediterranean spirit through a rich and harmonious composition. The citrus top notes contrast with spices and sweet accords, symbolizing the richness and cultural power of a unified Italy. The fragrance opens with classic citrus notes of bergamot and lemon, softened by calming lavender nuances. In the heart, jasmine sambac blends with cinnamon, cashmeran, and honey, while the base introduces masculine tobacco accords and tonka bean. Vanilla envelops the composition with a soft and sensual veil, uniting floral, fruity, and tobacco notes into a refined and cohesive whole.
